Search Engine Optimization is more important now than it has ever been, but this advanced Internet marketing technique is still in its infancy. Many companies are beginning to realize that their website needs to be optimized in order for it to have any sort of presence on the Internet. SEO is still regarded as relatively uncharted business territory; however, many companies feel they can complete SEO without enlisting a professional. This is a big mistake. SEO and your business’s exposure is not something you should take lightly. You wouldn’t decide to take on the responsibilities of all of your marketing yourself, so why would you decide to optimize your own site?
Many clients that I speak to about SEO seem to all read the same articles describing “black-hat,” or underhanded, SEO techniques. Black-hat strategies may suggest any number of ways to increase your site’s performance. While there is a good chance that one or more of these steps will help your website in the short term, they almost always spell disaster in the long term. Once Google or any other major search engine detects the underhanded elements or practices, your website will be banned. Much like it sounds, being banned is a bad thing. Getting your site back on track is not quite as easy as buying a new domain name and uploading all of your old content. If anything on the new site is duplicated from the old site…guess what…you’re banned again. To avoid this vicious cycle, be sure to have your site optimized by a professional and reputable company that focuses on quality SEO techniques designed to gradually and continually build your site’s presence on the Internet.

Hi Drew, since you got some SEO on your blog, I am inviting you, and a few others to try out Top SEO Blogs. Just sign up and you will be able to place a small graphic on your site displaying how popular your site is compare to other SEO blogs. Since there are not members yet, most probably once you sign up, you will have the number 1 spot if no one else is there yet. I will be inviting others too.
